Mandel's 27th Birthday Fundraiser
I haven't asked for a birthday gift in YEARS...but if you were gonna buy me a drink for my birthday, I'm asking you to instead donate 5 bucks (or more if you're feeling generous, Mr. Moneybags) to The People's Grocery in Oakland.
I've come to see their work as a really important fundamental to help Oakland reach its potential. They provide food packages for Highland Hospital patients, they do youth education, they support Oakland's urban farming scene, they help fund community-driven solutions to food insecurity, they're involved in city government on food policy, and they're trying to open up a new full-service grocery store in the food desert that is West Oakland! I hope I'm introducing to you to a org that's doing great stuff for food justice in the Bay Area.
I'll post an edited memoir of the last few months of living in New York, with my personal advice on why, how, and when you should make a big move to a new city.
I'll start writing the first chapters of a book that I've got in my head, titled: "Right Under Your Nose: Finding My Life's Meaning". The book is going to be about my journey to find the meaning and the purpose of my life, a journey that is still happening. I'll post chapters when I feel it's ready.
We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Thanks and I'll see you soon,
